![]() ![]() This is a scenario based game where the players are members of an away team conducting missions on planets. Now that we have played it, was it worth the all the time waiting for this game to make planetfall? A global pandemic, development delays, and then a shipping problem right at the end meant that I finally got this game in the Spring of 2023, three and a half years later. While I have spent more on single games in expansions, this is still the most I have spent on a game at one time. I backed the game in the Fall of 2019, and I even backed it at a higher level. Battlestations: Second Edition is one of my favorite games, so I was really excited back in the Fall of 2019 when this game, which takes the system from Battlestations and moves it planet side, was launched on Kickstarter. This is a game that has been a long time coming. Of all the games on this list, this is the one I am confident will not be a game I have not played for much longer. We have a handful of other unplayed games we want to push through, because our thought is once we learn and play this game it will be the game we are playing regularly for a while. The main reason we have not played this game, is that both my wife and I are sure we are going to really like it. We got it for 50% off in Barnes and Noble after Christmas sale. This is the low hanging fruit on this list, because we already own this game. It is not a game my wife would play, BUT an asymmetrical two player duel card game is very much in our collective wheel house and I think there is a good chance this game would work well for us. I have played War of the Ring a handful of times (with him) and enjoyed it. ![]() It was his opinion this did a great job at capturing the feel of War of the Ring in a card game. One of the biggest Lord of the Rings fans I know who is also a gamer, only had really good things to say about this game. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – The Adventure Game This book is available on Amazon, so it is currently not too hard to find.ĩ. I also like that this has different battles to explore and not just one. This one is of interest to me because it is just a little off the beaten WWII/American Civil War/Napoleonics path that a lot of war games exist in. It seems in the past couple of years solo game books have been gaining in popularity. Battles of Medieval Britain: A Solitaire Wargame There are a lot of 2022 releases that I have missed out on, and of all those games these are the ones I most want to play.ġ0. Now do not get me wrong, I love trying new games but the appeal of the cult of the new is not quite as alluring as it once was. Second, I think I am at a point where I am much more interested in playing the games I have instead of always chasing the new. This means that by and large if I want to play a new game, I have to buy it. First for the past several years I have not been able to be part of a regular game group. There are a couple of reasons why I do not get a lot of new games played. I only managed to play 28 games released in 2022, and I think the only year that I played less new releases was 2020. It appears for me, it is hard to even play a handful of them. There are so many new games that come out in a year, that it is impossible to play them all. We are not halfway through the year yet, and we are down to only seventeen plays left so I think we are in a good spot. My son and I have already played half way through the game's starter campaign that teaches the rules one mission at a time. ![]() After a 3 1/2 year wait we finally got Battlestations: Dirtside. I esepcially liked the way that scenarios are created from cards in Warcry, but of the games I liked Crisis Protocol the most.ģ. I got to play Star Wars: Legion, Warhammer 40K: Kill Team, Age of Sigmar: Warcry, and Marvel: Crisis Protocol. At the beginning of the month I drove to Dayton, OH to meet up with some friends for a Miniatures Game Day. While we used our custom board and set, we did play with the "official" rules that come from the sets sold at the Disney Parks.Ģ. On May 4th we celebrated Star Wars day by playing Dejarik. Number of New to Me Games Played This Month: 5īest New to Me Game: Marvel: Crisis Protocolġ. Most Played Game This Month: Battlestations: Dirtside (4 plays) ![]()
